Aqila Zulaiqha Zulkifli

Aqila Zulaiqha Zulkifli is a Senior Associate at Messrs Chuar Kia Lin. She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2019.

Aqila maintains a broad dispute resolution practice encompassing litigation, arbitration, and advisory matters, with particular emphasis on construction, corporate, and commercial disputes. She has extensive experience advising and representing clients in complex contentious matters, including fraud, conspiracy, fraudulent trading, shareholder oppression, and a wide range of construction disputes, including delays, defects, variation claims, loss and expense claims, liquidated ascertained damages, and performance bonds.

Her work frequently involves collaborating with forensic accountants, financial experts, and other specialists to investigate fraud, trace asset and fund movements, and develop comprehensive litigation strategies.

Notable representations include:

• Managing a civil action on behalf of a company against, among others, its directors for breaches of fiduciary duties, conspiracy, and dishonest assistance, successfully securing a judgment of approximately RM49 million.
• Leading three concurrent civil actions against company directors premised on fraudulent trading, with claims collectively valued at approximately RM67 million.
• Acting in various construction arbitration proceedings including but not limited to disputes in relation to EPC and PAM contracts, in, among others, UNCITRAL and AIAC arbitrations. 
• Securing an Adjudication Award amounting to USD 10 million for claims involving payment for work done and variation claims.
